...and finally...

the drama of getting back to Utah. (Gosh, this happened a month ago - I need to get on it!) After spending some great time in California, Tyler and I decided to come home to Utah one day early...or so we thought.

About 17 miles outside of Lovelock, Nevada, our trusty Toyota overheated. The damage? So great that the car wouldn't start again. We had to call a tow company to tow us into Lovelock where we found out that our car was going to cost a pretty penny to fix.

We decided not to have the car fixed in Lovelock - it was too expensive, too far away from home, and...the mechanic at the garage who could fix it was going out of town for a week or so. We stayed the night in Lovelock while Tyler's parents graciously drove out to pick us up. They drove out their truck so that they could tow our car back.

Here's how the adventure back looked:

I don't know what we would have done if Tyler's parents hadn't come and got us. We're very grateful for helping us out. We might even still be in Lovelock without their help! :)

The final verdict on the car (from the invoice): replace cylinder head, water pump, timing belt, coolant, plugs, thermostat, oil, and oil filter. Basically, the head gasket overheated and was no good. I tell you, I have the lemon of Toyotas, if one ever existed. I've had to have a decent amount of work done on this car since I bought it four years ago. Hopefully now it's all fixed and ready for the next 100,000 miles!!

:)

And this, my friends, ends my "catching up" journey. Don't get me wrong, I still have tons to blog about, but this was the last hu-rrah of our month-long festivities. More to come shortly.
