18.5 weeks

Lucky me! I got to christen my father-in-law's new camera...I am the first picture he took with it. It's a beauty, too.

And this is for you, Karen. Pictures of my 18.5 week belly.

Tyler and I go in on Tuesday for my 20 week ultrasound. Hopefully everything is a-okay with our little girl!

in my defense, part of this "baby" is a food baby. i had just eaten a lot. haha. also, i find that i'm bigger at the end of the day than when i woke up. is that normal?

it's a GIRL!!

surprise!

tyler and i were shocked to find out that our baby "boy" is actually a baby girl!! everyone (including ourselves) thought we were having a boy. not so! we went to the obgyn at 16 weeks to find out what our little babe is. i couldn't stand knowing that i could know but didn't know, ya know? so we forked out the extra $50 to meet our little girl at 16 weeks instead of 20.

here are some pictures of her (click to enlarge):

and, drum roll please...
the last picture is of our little girl exposing herself. thank goodness she finally did! the first time we tried to determine the gender, our little one was all curled up - legs crossed, arms around her head. we didn't get a picture of it, but we have it on our dvd. with a little jiggling and some food, she finally opened up and we got to see "her."

suggestions for names appreciated!

15 weeks

This picture was taken last Wednesday (10.27.2010) when I was 15 weeks. I think I look more pregnant in the picture than in real life (the camera adds ten pounds, right?) but I definitely look more pregnant now (one week later). I've finally had some people tell me I'm starting to look pregnant. Thanks...? Haha, just kidding.

16 week picture to come tomorrow. Lucky you, a picture every week!

According to the Chinese Gender Chart (if I'm using it correctly), this baby is a boy. According to the swing-a-ring-over-your-wrist method, this baby is a boy. (And we're having three children: boy, girl, boy.) We shall see if it's right with #1 soon enough!

For you pregnant peeps out there, check out the Chinese Gender Chart here.

day seven (part three): sevilla

after all of the sightseeing we did during the day, we took a (much needed) break before getting ready for another very cultural experience: a flamenco. (you'll remember that one of the lladros we bought is of a flamenco dancer.) in my journal from that day, i described the flamenco as a tap/pasa doble mix. that description doesn't quite give it justice. needless to say, it was a super interesting experience. the dancers, as part of the act, keep a very dramatic, strained, almost pained face when dancing. traditional music with very interesting singing accompanies the dancers. (ask denise - my mother-in-law - to demonstrate it for you some time. she does it quite well.)

on our way to the flamenco. (mom - this is where i bought your post card. you can see the post card stand on the right in the distance.)
the male dancer. usually there are two male dancers, but at our show there was only one. the guy standing in the back is one of the singers; the guy sitting in the back is one of the guitar players.all of the dancers. generally speaking, all of the dancers dance individually and then dance together at the end. you can see the three male singers and the two guitarists in the background. the female singer is not in this shot.

we attended a late flamenco (10:30 to 12:30), but it was well worth it. plus, i got to sleep in the next day. off to cadiz next!
