my friend's facebook status currently asks, "what's your favorite christmas song?" i quickly commented: "baby it's cold outside." i LOVE this song! and i have to admit, i think this is the first year i've ever heard it, although it's been around for a very long time.
the original (i believe...)
and who doesn't love elf? i love zooey's voice.
so...what's your favorite?

christmas cheer

it has begun
I LOVE CHRISTMAS.
i was ready for christmas back in july, i kid you not.
until thanksgiving, i tried to down-play my excitement over christmas, since most people get annoyed with anything christmas before thanksgiving. i don't understand why, though, because i think christmas is "the most wonderful time of the year." there is such a spirit of caring, love, peace, joy, families, etc. who doesn't want that?
so now that thanksgiving has passed...bring on christmas!
tyler and i started our christmas season off by going to fish lake with some of his family to cut down a christmas tree. it was really fun. here are some pictures!

i hope all of you enjoy your christmas season! :)

like unto my sister and my mother
this blog post is rather silly, but that's okay. i got the inspiration from my sister's similar blog post.
clinique
as i was showering after going to the gym tonight, i realized that i, too, use a lot of clinique products. this habit stems from my mother, who has used clinique products for as long as i can remember.
i don't claim to be a very girly girl (and those of you who know me well will testify to this), but i do love all of these clinique skin products and make-up that i use.
tonight's regimen included:
pre-wash/makeup remover.

7 day scrub, which "nudges away roughness, flakiness to refine skin. helps lessen the appearance of fine lines. clears the way for moisture. suitable for all skin types." i had no idea until i just read this online.

the actual soap, which is step 1 of the famous clinique three-step skin care.

clarifying lotion, step 2 of 3, which exfoliates.

step 3 of 3, dramatically different moisturizing lotion.

and that's it for tonight. had i been getting ready to go out into the real world, i would have continued with my favorite powder in the world, stay-matte sheer pressed powder.

with the finishing touches of lash doubling mascara.

and on special occasions, i break out this great eye liner, quickliner for eyes.

i won't add up the value of all of this clinique greatness, but i will tell you that some of these products that i used tonight were samples. if you're further interested in clinique, visit their awesome website.

tales of the stowaway cat: part ii
the cat is back.
tyler and i had the williams over for the season premier of the big bang theory (which was awesome, btw) on monday night. as they were leaving, i noticed a cat in the parking lot next to our house, and i asked tyler if that was the very cat that joined us in bed saturday night.
indeed, it was.
this cat must really have a thing for our house because it came over to where we were standing, on our front porch, talking with the williams. i kept my safe distance, but kyle decided the cat was a nice one and started petting it. upon further inspection, he declared the cat a house cat because it was far too friendly and fat to be a stray. (while the idea of a cat that is not mine in my bed is still frightening, i am comforted by the fact that this cat is probably not stray.)
kyle even went so far as to pick the cat up, which it kindly responded to by purring. since kyle was hold the cat, we decided that we better take a picture of me petting it, since i do love it oh-so-much.
and there you have it. our intruder. (why i didn't think to make tyler touch it too, i don't know. i guess he technically already did, since it so kindly brushed him with its tail at 2 in the morning saturday night.)
after the williams left, the cat seemed even more determined to get in the house. it sat on a windowsill outside our front room and pushed it's head onto the glass for a good five minutes. we tried to take a picture of it, but it didn't quite work through the window. then it was gone.
silly kitty.

tales of the stowaway cat
so...
tyler and i have a cat.
that we didn't know about.
last night, at about 1:45, both of us woke up to a rather loud "meow." i assumed that the cat was outside because the window over our bed was open. tyler, however, thought otherwise - that the meow was much too loud to be coming from outside - and that a cat was in our house. because i suggested that the cat was probably outside, he believed me and looked out all of the windows in our bedroom, rather loudly, to see if he could find it. he couldn't. (i later found out he was being so loud to scare the cat off the windowsill if it was outside.)
about half an hour later, tyler suddenly sat up in bed, wiping his hand across his cheek and face. he got out of bed, turned to me, and said, "christine, there's a cat in the house. don't freak out." i, of course, start freaking out, and ask him if he's sure. he told me yes - that he just felt its tail on his cheek. i asked him if it was just my hair, and he said no, that he SAW a cat sitting on our bed! in the meantime, the stowaway cat ran out of our bedroom...
tyler found it sitting in the living room and subsequently scared it away. after looking for the cat for a while upstairs with no luck, he decided to look downstairs. eureka! he found the cat in the storage part of our basement. he scared it into a corner, and then BAM! it was gone. it had gotten into the house through a hole in one of the downstairs windows (and left the same way). lucky for us, i left the door between the downstairs and the upstairs open, giving the cat free reign on our house.
tyler put a pan up in the holey window temporarily to make sure the cat couldn't get back in. and, just to be sure, i made tyler check the house thoroughy before i would go to bed (with our bedroom door shut this time). this lovely ordeal took about forty-five minutes.
there have been no more sightings of this cat, but i half expect a cat to come around the corner or to find kittens in one of my closets...
:)
next item of business: wash my stowaway (and probably stray) cat infested bedding.
