fellow utahns/provo-orem residents/anyone looking for housing in this area:
our basement apartment is for rent. it is a 2 bed, 1 bath apartment with a washer and dryer. rent is $675 per month which includes utilities and wi-fi. it does not include a land line telephone. even though it is a basement, it does have windows with good lighting. it also has a good amount of storage space. parking is available behind the house so you do not have park on the street (unless you want to, of course). it is not approved for single byu students.
if you or someone you know is interested (or if you have any questions), let me know, or contact our landlord at 801.373.8848. ask for bill and tell them you are interested in the apartment.
this apartment is listed on byu's housing website, but i pretty much told all here.

so...i stole the quote at the top of our blog from someone else's blog. in all honestly, i don't know who it was. all i know is that it's from the blog of a friend of a friend. i really love the quote, so i put it there. i don't love where it is, but until i care enough to learn more about blogger to make it "pretty," it's going to stay there.

hermano y hermana weidmer
...better known as addie and nana to me. they're my dad's parents. as you can see from the picture below, they've been called to serve a mission in bogota, columbia. my grandpa is a retired doctor and will be working as a mission doctor in south america with my grandma assisting him. i'm so very excited for them to go and serve in such a unique place! they leave at the end of april. maybe we'll be able to go visit them...

and since this picture isn't very good, here is another (still not-so-great) picture of them from my wedding. they're the ones on the left:

i had so much fun looking for pictures of my grandparents that i had to share them all with you:
me with nana (i'm around 1 year or so).

a family picture, probably circa 2004 or so...

christmas a LONG time ago. i'm probably, oh i don't know, two years old.

anyway, enough of my crazy family. we're excited for nana and addie to go and serve!

politics
Those of you who know me well know that I am conservative. Jaclyn had this posted on her blog, and I like it. I agree.

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had once failed an entire class.
That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".
All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.
After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.
As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride, too, so they studied little.
The second test average was a D! No one was happy.
When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.
The scores never increased as bickering, blame, and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.
All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

year in review
...for the chinese new year, that is. i've seen a lot of people do this at the end/beginning of the year, so i decided to be different and wait until the chinese new year. (and that's basically code for "i didn't get around to it in january, so i'm going to do it now.")
