beauty tips

right, i know. me, giving out beauty tips? it's an oxymoron. :)

but i do have some ... tips that i love that i want to share with you! and calling them health tips, or pretty tips, or sexy tips just seemed weird. so we'll stick with beauty tips.

my very favorite tip i learned at a mary kay party that my good friend threw a while ago. she suggested we shave with an exfoliating scrub. i tried it and i'm a believer. i love it! it helps to remove the top, dead layer of skin cells so that your blade cuts closer. brilliant! i use an exfoliating scrub where ever i need to shave. for fun, i bought some yummy-scented scrubs at bath and body works and the lotion to match, so now i don't smell so much like baby. i've even matched my scents to the season. i'm currently using honey autumn apple, and it is divine.

another favorite of mine is dry shampoo. but here's the thing - if you're blond, or have lighter-colored hair - baby powder works well, too. my sister and i used baby powder in our hair before dry shampoo because a craze. i personally prefer the smell of baby powder over the dry shampoo that i have, but maybe not all dry shampoos smell. baby powder is also cheaper, but it's harder to put in your hair evenly. i may or may not have accidentally put too much baby powder in my hair a time or two. (and if you have dark hair, baby powder can work for you. my sister's hair is very dark. she found that if she put the baby powder in before bed and slept on it, it was hardly noticeable in the morning.) whichever you choose, both are great options for lengthening your time between washes (and, at least for me, straightenings).

my next favorite beauty tip i learned from a magazine. it seemed so duh! when i read it, but i had never thought to do it myself. the magazine recommended washing your face (in the shower) after you've shampooed and conditioned. doing so will help reduce break-outs along your hairline. i started doing it and poof - the acne around my hairline decreased. such an easy thing to do!

so there you have it. a few of my favorite beauty tips. now share yours with me!! :)

I'm not much of a beauty, but I wash and moisturizer every morning and night. And remove make up nightly. I wake up feeling better!
